Marbella stands at 854.1 cases, Fuengirola, 531.2 and Benalmádena, 517.8

The fifth wave of coronavirus begins to be a reality in Mijas. In just one week, the municipality has doubled its incidence rate, reaching 537 cases per 100,000 inhabitants today Monday, 117 points more than the rate of last Friday and 237 more than last Monday. As for the number of confirmed positives, during the weekend there have also been 137 contagions recorded, making a total of 5,514 since the pandemic began. The number of deaths has remained at 41 since April.

The increase in infections is also seen in municipalities near Mijas such as Fuengirola, which has a rate of 531 cases, Benalmádena, 517, or Marbella, which rises to 854 cases. Once again, Malaga has been the Andalusian province that seen the largest increase in contagions during the weekend, reaching 1,281. The Costa del Sol is at the head of the regions with the highest incidence of COVID-19, with an average of 600.9 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. It is followed by the district of Malaga capital, with a rate of 427.
