The cleaning of the coast is very important for the environment, but being aware of how essential it is not to litter is even more vital. That is why MiMoana has organised a new coastal cleaning day for the month of July in which people of all ages can participate. Organised by MiMoana and the company Diving with Nic, in collaboration with the Department for Beaches and the Environment, the Department for Foreigners of the Mijas Town Hall and the Royal Beach ‘chiringuito’, the activity will take place on July 10th, starting at 10:30 hours, on Royal Beach, next to the beach bar.
"It is all about creating awareness among all beach users of how important it is to care for our environment and our beaches, and what better way could there be to reach everyone than precisely by carrying out this activity", said the councillor for Beaches, José Carlos Martín (Cs). For her part, the councillor for the Environment, Arancha López (Cs), also said: “this initiative, which is included in the programme for cleaning and collection of plastics that we carry out quarterly, is focused on removing from the sand all those objects that are harmful for the environment and, furthermore, on this occasion, it will be carried out through very dynamic activities and games for children, so that they can have fun and learn at the same time”.
The theme for this new initiative will be based on “pirates”. "We are going to organise a treasure hunt, and the youngest attendees will be given a map showing the different items they can find on the beach and once they have collected them all, they will have to return to the beach bar to receive their reward", explained the co-founder of MiMoana, Nikky Wegloop.
The prizes will be kept in a chest full of treasures from which the children will be able to choose, among other rewards, toys and chocolates. The activity will last approximately two hours and the only requirement to attend is to wear comfortable clothing, a cap or hat, and plenty of sunscreen.
