The Provincial Court of Malaga has sentenced the person responsible for starting a fire that was declared on August 14th, 2015 in Calanova Golf, to 20 months in prison. According to Europa Press reports, it has been proven that the defendant set fire to a developable plot intentionally in order to cause damage. The woman was arrested initially by Civil Guard agents who were carrying out surveillance in the area, which days ago had also registered other fires. In July 2015 there were two fires recorded in the same area, although the implication of the accused in these has not been proven. In addition to the jail sentence, the woman must pay 7,500 euros, which the Regional Government of Andalusia has valued as the cost entailed in the extinction tasks. In addition, although it did not cause material or personal damage, the fire did force the evacuation of an urbanisation.
