Citizen Participation & Mijas Felina present a solidarity buffet

  • The appointment will be on Saturday June 19th at the Club Miraflores taurant.

The buffet find to raise funds to cover the groups’ costs

With the aim of raising funds, Mijas Felina, in collaboration with the Citizen Participation Department of the Mijas Local Council and the Club Miraflores restaurant (Riviera del Sol), organises a solidarity day this coming Saturday, June 19th, with a buffet lunch that will start at 1:00 pm until 6:00 pm.

“This event is held to raise funds, since the castration of cats is quite costly”, said the secretary of Mijas Felina, Manuela Bernardo, who thanked the involvement of the veterinarians who collaborate with this group.

The price of this lunch is 18 euros, of which 3 will go to the  Mijas Felina association, and there will also be several solidarity stalls, as Bernardo pointed out: “There will be many artisan products, second-hand clothes, household objects and there will also be homemade cakes made by the members”. Reservations can be made at 666 294 062 or by email at mijasfelina@hotmail.com.

The Local Government in Mijas encourages our collaboration and reminds that animal groups have the option to request municipal subsidies. “This group was established in our municipality with great enthusiasm, and regularly collaborates with us. They receive an annual grant from the Town Hall of 5,000 euros”, explained the councillor for Citizen Participation, Tamara Vera (PSOE), who valued the different initiatives carried out by Mijas Felina.

From the Mijas Felina Association, they recalled that one of their main tasks is the castration of cats “to control the colonies” that abound in our municipality and as pointed out by its vice president, Pepi Moreno: “so far this year we have carried out 350 castrations and 180 cats were given up for adoption”.

They also appealed to those who want to collaborate, either by becoming volunteers “because we need people to help us feed the cats that live in these colonies”, or by joining as a member with 5 euros per month.

They animal group is also seeking foster homes “so that people have them for a while and give them affection until they find a new family”, said Moreno.

Finally, Mijas Felina thanked the Club Miraflores restaurant for their collaboration. You can find more information about this group on their  Facebook profile (@mijasfelina) and Instagram (@mijas_felina_oficial).
