With the aim of paying tribute to those who have suffered the most during the pandemic, the Mijas Town Hall organises a concert dedicated to Senior Citizens this coming Saturday, June 19th. “It is a good initiative to pay tribute to our elders after they have had such a bad time during this pandemic, I think it is very important because they are looking forward to carrying out normal activities again”, said the councillor for Municipal Bands, Hipólito Zapico (PSOE).
The Mijas Music Band and the Las Lagunas Music Group will perform, offering a wide and varied repertoire of pasodobles, interpreting well-known pieces. “’Suspiros de España’, ‘Nerva’, ‘Paquito el Chocolatero’, ‘Me gusta mi novio’, ‘La morena de mi copla’, or premieres of some pasodobles such as ‘César Jiménez’”, indicated Francisco Valcárcel, director of the ‘Banda de Mijas’, who pointed out that “we are also going to premiere the new adaptation that both the director of the Las Lagunas Musical Group and I have made of the pasodoble ‘Sierra de Mijas’, which is ours”.
This concert is also a new opportunity for the musicians to perform before the public again. “Let’s see if, little by little, we can fill both the Auditorium and the parks with music that the Bands have been practicing for so long”, said Zapico. The concert will take place in the auditorium of Mijas Village, this Saturday, starting at 8:00 pm. Admission is free and there will be limited capacity.
