The works now reach non-urbanised areas that are close to the urban centre. "In April we approved a motion, which we promoted from the department, that proposed the denomination of 34 roads in the surroundings of the Pepe López, Tejar or El Malagueño community", explained Nicolás Cruz (PSOE), councillor for Public Areas.
The signage and naming of these streets and extensions in the new developments is essential to avoid the duplication of nomenclatures, or the use of popular names, which later lead to error, hence the need to expedite the work. According to Cruz, "in recent months we have detected various cases that compromise the location of these points and that must be correctly identified so that the postal services, emergencies or simply the location of a home is made easier".
In April the naming and signposting of 34 streets and roads was approved in plenary session. The names of the new streets and roads have been agreed in consensus among the Town Hall, community presidents and residents of the area, assured the councillor. This measure also helps to avoid duplications and addresses "a neighbourhood conflict between the La Sierrezuela Urbanisation and the Pepe López community regarding the extension and naming of a road". Now, in the next phase, this plan will reach the areas of Las Coscas and the surrounding area of the Mijas highway in the coming months.
