With the aim of paying tribute to those who have suffered the most during the pandemic, the Mijas Town Hall organises a concert dedicated to Senior Citizens this coming Saturday, June 19th. "It is a good initiative to pay tribute to our elders after they have had such a bad time during this pandemic, I think it is very important because they are looking forward to carrying out normal activities again", said the councillor for Municipal Bands, Hipólito Zapico (PSOE).
The Mijas Music Band and the Las Lagunas Music Group will perform, offering a wide and varied repertoire of pasodobles, interpreting well-known pieces. "'Suspiros de España', 'Nerva', 'Paquito el Chocolatero', 'Me gusta mi novio', 'La morena de mi copla', or premieres of some pasodobles such as 'César Jiménez'", indicated Francisco Valcárcel, director of the 'Banda de Mijas', who pointed out that “we are also going to premiere the new adaptation that both the director of the Las Lagunas Musical Group and I have made of the pasodoble 'Sierra de Mijas', which is ours”.
This concert is also a new opportunity for the musicians to perform before the public again. "Let's see if, little by little, we can fill both the Auditorium and the parks with music that the Bands have been practicing for so long", said Zapico. The concert will take place in the auditorium of Mijas Village, this Saturday, starting at 8:00 pm.
Admission is free and there will be limited capacity.
The Mijas Town Hall Senior Citizen's Area has enabled a free bus so that residents of Las Lagunas and La Cala can attend the concert in tribute to the elderly that the Mijas Municipal Band and the Las Lagunas Musical Group will offer on Saturday, June 1th , from 8 pm, in the Municipal Auditorium.
Those interested may request a place from Wednesday, June 16th until next Friday, June 18th, from 9 am to 2 pm, by calling 951 06 20 06. The bus will leave the La Cala Fairground at 6.45 pm. An intermediate stop will be made at the Ford roundabout in Las Lagunas at 7:00 pm. The return trip is scheduled for 22:00.
