Of the 460 posts, around 300 remain, and about 100 employees have been relocated equally between the Malaga and Marbella centres

El Corte Inglés is now restructuring the Costa Mijas Shopping Centre to turn it into an ‘outlet’ that will house more than 150 fashion brands on its ground floor, following the announcement made last April. From the company, they assure that they still do not know the exact date on which the opening of the new business model will take place, but what they do specify is that “it will be in the middle of this summer”, as pointed out by Eduardo Barrero, head of External Relations at El Corte Inglés.

Currently, only the semi-basement floor is operational, which has been redesigned, maintaining the supermarket (Hipercor) and housing the perfumery (previously on floor 1), electronics and IT (previously on floor 3) sections, among others. Likewise, on this floor the restaurants and other services such as the Post Office are open. As for the rest of the floors in the centre, Barrero stated: “at the moment they are closed”.

Positions
Regarding employment, Barrero assured that "of the 460 employees, 300 remain as staff, about 50 people have been moved to Malaga and another 50 to Marbella, and the rest have signed up for the voluntary restructuring plan" and clarified that "Fewer people have left than those that signed up, in fact, there have been members of staff who have been told that they could not leave”.
