The El Esparragal and Los Olivos parks will have zip lines, swings and multi-game areas

  • The Local Council will invest 60,000 euros in the creation of children's parks in these spaces
  • The councillors for Purchasing & Contracts, Roy Pérez, and Parks & Gardens, Laura Moreno, visited the El Esparragal park on Monday.

Fencing works around the El Barco de La Cala park have also been contracted

The peri-urban parks El Esparragal (Camino Coín) and Los Olivos (La Cala) will have children's play areas after the summer. The works will begin shortly, once the contract with the successful company in the bidding process has been formalized for the installation of two children's areas in both spaces. The project has been offered for tender for 60,000 euros.

The councillors for Purchasing & Contracts, Roy Pérez (PSOE), and Parks & Gardens (PSOE), Laura Moreno, visited the areas on Monday to report the details of both projects. The works will be carried out during the summer, “therefore within three months the boys and girls in Mijas will have two new playgrounds in these parks. They will obviously be adapted to the area, made out of wood, which will be perfectly integrated into these natural surroundings”, explained Pérez.

El parque periurbano Los Olivos (La Cala), contará con zonas de juegos infantiles después del verano.

“I think it will be very good, because we are going to use natural materials and we will install a zip line, a swing, a wooden multi-game area as well, both here and in Los Olivos park, and it will be a leisure area that can be enjoyed by children up to twelve years of age. I think it will also look very attractive, because it will fit in very well with the environment in which we find ourselves”, declared Moreno.

The works will be carried out over the next few months. In El Esparragal, the Local Council reminds that barbecues are prohibited until October 15th, although in Los Olivos they are allowed. Here the play area will be located on one of the sides, in a free space, which will be fenced in to guarantee the safety of the children. In both parks, the recreational offer will be increased with the installation of various elements, undoubtedly the most attractive one is a 20-metre-long zip line. In addition, there will be two swings and multi-game areas. Sand will be used to finish the surfaces, to minimize the visual impact with the natural environment. "When families come to enjoy barbecues here, their children will be able to play in the new park and game area", concluded Moreno.

Work has also been awarded for the installation of a fence around the perimeter of the El Barco park in La Cala.

In addition to the creation of these children's areas in the El Esparragal and Los Olivo parks, work has also been awarded to install a fence around the perimeter of the El Barco park in La Cala.
