The specific area where the machines are working is known as La Huerta de la Peseta, in La Alquería, where an old 90 mm diameter polyethylene pipe is being changed, which presents leakage problems, which means that it has to be repaired with some frequency. The solution is to change it for a new one, of the same diameter but of a different material.

The councillor for Infrastructure and Works, José Carlos Martín (Cs), visited the area on Monday, where he explained that it is being replaced “with a modern, cast iron pipe, which is called ‘blutop’. On the outside it is made of cast iron and on the inside polyethylene, and what it does is avoid leaks and it lasts much longer. Obviously, these works include the corresponding connections that are being carried out to each of the houses, and should put an end to this ongoing problem”.

This work is carried out at the expense of the Acosol canon destined for this type of investment. The budget is 38,000 euros, and they will work on 400 linear metres. "What are guaranteed are the basic services, such as a decent water supply, without interruptions caused by breakdowns", said Martín, who added: "As regards the provision of the service, evidently when there is a modern supply network that does not breakdown, as these old pipes did, obviously that improves the quality of the service, and the economy-resources relationship: because improving the resources, means not having to cover the expenses entailed with the many repairs, as well as the loss of water that these breakages represent”.

The works have an execution period of four weeks.
