The Mijas Town Hall has put out to tender the execution of the works on the new Las Lagunas Road Education Park, a project that has an estimated value of 963,490.85 euros and a three-month execution period, as announced Monday morning by the councillors for Contracting and Infrastructures, Roy Pérez (PSOE) and José Carlos Martín (Cs), respectively.
"It is an open, ordinary procedure, and the estimated value for the contract is 963,000 euros, including VAT", says Pérez, adding that "from the Local Council, we invite all companies interested in presenting their offers to carry out the execution of this new playground,to present these through the State Contracting Platform until June 22nd this year”.
The new park will be built on an area of 2,700 square metres located on the Félix Rodríguez de la Fuente square, between Avenida de Dinamarca and Calle Ciprés, as explained during the presentation by both councillors of the government team.
An "isolated and deteriorated area is going to be restored and valued", as detailed by Martín, who also pointed out that it is an "important project, not only for the amount involved, but for the characteristics of the park itself, since in addition to having an area for children to learn, with signage, roundabouts, turns, etc., a little about the rules of the road, it will also include all the characteristic elements of any park. If all goes well, after the summer we can start the works and at the end of this year, beginning of the next, the project will be finished and another unique park will be added to the ample offer we have in our municipality”, concludes Martín.
New spaces
This project will provide the municipality with a new space for leisure and playtime, where children from Mijas can learn the rules of the road in a didactic and fun way. The park will have roads, roundabouts, vertical and horizontal signage, as well as green areas, rest areas, lampposts and benches. Likewise, along the perimeters of the park, the project includes the beautification of the area through vertical gardens. In the last five years, the Infrastructure and Works Council in Mijas has undertaken the creation of other large-scale parks, such as Agua, La Cala Hills, El Encuentro, Calistenia, Olisol, El Hipódromo, El Limonar, and the canine parks located at El Ensanche de La Cala and Sector 31 (Las Lagunas).
