Mijas is now in Fitur. The local delegation, headed by the mayor, Josele González (PSOE), and the councillor for Tourism, José Carlos Martín (Cs), is in Ifema Madrid, where from today until May 23rd the international tourism industry meets for the celebration of Fitur 2021, the first face-to-face international tourism fair after the outbreak of COVID-19.
After noon, the 'Mijas, destino seguro al aire libre', (Mijas, a safe outdoor destination) campaign was presented at the Costa del Sol stand, in which the beaches, golf courses and hiking routes through the mountains were highlighted. In short, three segments that are cared for in detail in our municipality and that allow us to enjoy, as the Local Council described, a quality holiday with all the sanitary guarantees.
“We want to transfer this open-air tourism campaign, offering options to enjoy nature, the many natural spaces that our municipality, our Village has and, ultimately, above all, provide a wide, family-friendly, safe offer that has much to do with the enjoyment of our mountains, our 14 kilometres of coastline and, at the same time, walking through the streets of Mijas Pueblo, being a historical-artistic complex. I believe that Mijas provides an offer that few municipalities in the province of Malaga can, which makes us a very competitive brand and a place that receives more tourists every year. Therefore, the presence of Mijas today in Fitur is a must", the mayor highlighted.
Tourism Segments
The local delegation will be in charge of promoting the main tourist segments of our municipality, adapted to the new circumstances. In this promotion, of course, the beaches of Mijas and the Coastal Path will be present. During this fair, the new network of trails in the Sierra de Mijas will also be presented and emphasis will be placed once again on a sector that continues to gain weight in our municipality: golf. “We have come to Fitur with the idea of transmitting that Mijas is a municipality that, apart from all the wonders it has and tourist attractions, is a safe municipality, a destination in which we build trust so that whoever comes will do so with peace of mind”, said, for his part, the councillor for Tourism. Martín met yesterday with different groups of tour operators to present Mijas both internationally and nationally “we have to act in all areas and in all tourist niches, they are the ones to whom we want to convey that Mijas, in addition to being a destination with all the attractions that they already know, it is a safe destination”, highlighted the councillor.
‘Volver a vivir’ (Start to live again)
This year, in addition, the promotional campaign of Mijas includes a very consistent slogan in these times of pandemic, 'Volver a vivir' (Start to live again). According to the mayor, after months of confinement and perimeter closures, everyone wants to live and travel as before. “Both national and international tourists are eager to return to our coasts, for this reason, we want to send a positive message as regards just how important it is for Mijas to be present at this tourism fair, especially this year, when there is such a need to boost the economy and our main market”, said the mayor.
