Mijas Town Hall, through its Tourism Department, has held a working meeting with Miguel Gallardo, head of the golf division at the Costa del Sol Tourist Board. The meeting served to present the promotional strategies the municipality is preparing for 2027 and explore potential avenues for collaboration with the provincial body.
During the meeting, potential joint promotional and marketing initiatives were analysed, alongside key target markets for Mijas within the golf tourism sector. This forward planning will enable the municipality to coordinate its presence in initiatives driven by the Tourist Board and boost the visibility of its offer within the Costa del Sol destination.
The councillor for Tourism, Francisco Jerez (Vox), highlighted the importance of preparing these initiatives in advance. “We want to reach 2027 with a clear plan and work hand in hand with the Board so that Mijas has a prominent presence in golf promotion", he noted.

Jerez also underscored the value of this sector for year-round tourism. “Golf provides us with an opportunity to keep attracting visitors outside the peak months. That is why we want to better coordinate Mijas’s promotion and make the most of any joint initiatives we can develop with the Board”, he added.
Reducing seasonality
The meeting forms part of the Tourism Department’s efforts to strengthen collaboration with Costa Sol promotional bodies and plan actions targeting sectors of interest to the municipality. Following this initial encounter, the Town Hall and the Tourist Board will continue working together to finalise the promotional activities planned for Mijas for 2027.
