Last Tuesday, 22nd September, Mijas hosted the 3rd Costa del Sol International Business Networking Event at El Chaparral Golf Club; a forum for companies, professionals and entrepreneurs to connect, share experiences and generate new business opportunities, organised by the Foreigners Department, headed by councillor Mario Bravo (PP), and networking groups from the Costa del Sol. The event focused on the challenges faced by international companies when it comes to growing and developing new businesses in the area. “The aim is to bring together various businesses on the Costa del Sol; they all share a common interest, which is to continue making progress, and common problems, such as a lack of funding, bureaucratic delays and other issues that some of us politicians are trying to resolve”, explained Bravo.

 

Professionals and entrepreneurs value this type of initiative. “It’s very important because there are more and more international companies in the Technology Park, and what we do is bring them to events of this kind, which are held in English, because almost everything organised in Málaga for the general public is in Spanish; here, they feel a little more comfortable speaking English to do business”, explained Sandra García, head of international projects at Bic Euronova and recently appointed  honorary consul of Norway.

 

For her part, Lucía Melgarejo, wealth management adviser at BlackTower Financial Management, emphasised that “the end of summer is a time for local businesses to connect and reconnect; there are always start-ups and people who need support or assistance, but above all, it’s about synergies and collaboration”.
