  • Ingeniería Atecsur SL and Roma Ingenieros will design the facilities, providing over 650 parking spaces between them

The projects at Las Cañadas, Don Elías, La Vega and La Cala Boulevard are at the award proposal stage and add 1,800 parking spaces

The Mijas Town Hall is moving forward with its parking plan following the award of contracts for the projects next to CEIP Indira Gandhi School in Las Lagunas and Barrio Santana in Mijas Pueblo. Together, both facilities will provide over 650 parking spaces (an estimated 250 and 424 respectively), significantly boosting the town’s parking capacity in both areas.

According to the councillor for Procurement, Juan José Torres Trella (PP), the design contract for the car park next to CEIP Indira Gandhi Primary School has been awarded to Ingeniería Atecsur SL for 13,148.35 euros, with a 60-day deadline. This means the Town Hall will receive the technical plans in less than two months and can then put the construction works out to tender.

A similar situation applies to the Barrio Santana car park, where the contract was awarded to a joint venture formed by Ingeniería Atecsur SL and Roma Ingenieros. This contract is valued at 72,756.53 euros with a 120-day delivery deadline.

Four further projects

These two projects are alongside four others currently at the award proposal stage: Las Cañadas (an estimated 280 spaces), Don Elías (433 spaces), La Vega (480 spaces) and La Cala Boulevard (580 spaces).

Torres Trella highlighted that these four projects, to be awarded shortly for initial drafting before the construction tender, will add over 1,800 parking spaces to the municipality.  “Combined with the more than 650 spaces at CEIP Indira Gandhi Primary School and Barrio Santana, the total exceeds 2,450”.

Additionally, the Mijas Town Hall will put the construction works for the Mijas Pueblo car park out to tender before the end of the year, as its technical design is already approved. The government team emphasised that this facility “will significantly increase vehicle capacity by adding more than 600 spaces to the current total”.
