This Friday 3rd of July, will see the official opening of ‘Mijas with Soul by Candlelight’, a well-established event in the town that will run until Sunday 5th, featuring a craft market, workshops and live craft demonstrations, a children’s area, street entertainment, fire shows, food and drink stalls, and candlelit illuminations. In addition, the Miguel González Berral Auditorium will host concerts every evening over the weekend at 21:30. Music is also coming to the municipality’s other two districts this weekend. Firstly, on Friday 3rd, Las Lagunas will host the La Malagueña Sinfónica Summer Concert at the Manuel España Theatre at 20:30. Tickets can be purchased at tickettailor.com and at the theatre box office on the day, two hours before the performance begins. The following day, Saturday 4th, the seaside village will host the fourth edition of the Villa de Mijas Folklore Festival, organised by the Mijas Cultural and Musical Association 'Coros y Danzas'. It will take place at 21:30 at El Torreón and, alongside the organisers, will feature the Tierra Roja Folklore Association (Almagro) and the Verdiales group La Panda Chica from El Valdés. Also in La Cala, on Saturday the 4th, there will be flamenco at the Peña Flamenca del Sur, featuring Meraki, at 22:00.
More activities
Also, don’t forget that this weekend sees the start of Territorio Juventud on El Torreón beach. This initiative offers sports activities, such as paddle surfing and kayaking, free of charge every Friday and Saturday in July and August from 17:00 to 20:00.
And as usual, the Active Participation Centres and Senior Citizens’ Centres continue to host their weekend dance evenings. On Friday, the event will take place at the Las Lagunas Active Participation Centre from 20:00 to 22:30, and this Sunday it’s Mijas Pueblo’s turn, from 19:30 pm to 22:00.
