The carnival celebrations will take place in all three urban centres, on the 7th of February in Las Lagunas, on the 8th in La Cala and on the 15th in Mijas Pueblo. This was announced by the councillor for Festivities and Traditions, Silvia Marín (PP), who explained that “there will be three celebrations this year, full of colour and joy, and all residents are invited to participate”. There will also be a special performance by the ‘murga’ ‘La Periférica’ (a band of street musicians).
Las Lagunas
On the 7th of February in Las Lagunas, the event will kick off at 11:00 hours with a parade starting from Miguel Hernández Avenue to Andalucía Park. At around 13:00 hours, the children’s fancy dress competition will begin, with the following categories: Baby, Individual Children, Children Couples and Children Group.
This will be followed by the adult fancy dress competition, which will also award prizes in the Individual, Adult Couple and Adult Group categories. The festivities will conclude with a performance by a ‘murga’.
