The Mijas Town Hall has announced that, for the first time, neighbourhood, social, sports and religious organisations and parents’ associations have been involved in the design and organisation of the three Three Wise Men parades in the municipality (one per population centre), and have been responsible for managing the registration of children participating in the 22 floats that will parade in Mijas Pueblo, Las Lagunas and La Cala on the 5th of January.

The aim of this decision by the Festivities Department, headed by the councillor Silvia Marín (PP), has been to broaden the participation of the social fabric and to reach a greater number of participants, especially children, through parents’ associations, sports clubs, brotherhoods and neighbourhood associations.

In addition, the Executive considers that “this ensures the aesthetic coherence of the floats, as each of the entities taking part in this shared organisation has been assigned a different thematic inspiration”. In this way, explains the councillor, if the decoration of one of the floats is related to a religious passage from the nativity scene or to superheroes, all the children will be dressed in related costumes.

 

Festivities Committee

All the participating organisations, 19 in total, are part of the Festivities Committee and have voluntarily taken on the task of informing their respective areas of influence about the organisation and registration for the confirmation of the floats.

In Las Lagunas, a total of 12 floats will parade, while in La Cala and Mijas Pueblo there will be five in each area. The parents’ associations participating in the organisation of the parades are Fénix (Las Cañadas), El Coto, El Chaparral, Iberia (Virgen de la Peña), Mediterráneo (Los Campanales) and Calima (García del Olmo).

 

In addition, the neighbourhood associations El Juncal, Nueva Laguna, Teatro Mijas and Riviera; the association Mujeres de Nuestro Tiempo; the sports clubs Peña Dorada, Club Deportivo Torreón and Atletismo Mijas; the associations Grupo Joven Virgen de la Peña and Grupo Joven de La Cala; and the brotherhoods Jesús Vivo, Cristo de la Paz and Jesús Nazareno are also involved. The Three Wise Men Parade will start at 17:30 hours in all three population centres.

'Tardeviaje' in La Cala 

The La Cala Youth Association and the Mijas Festivities and Traditions Department invite you to bid farewell to the year and welcome 2026 in the best possible way, with a party that will take place in the Carrefour car park from 15:30 hours on Wednesday 31st until the early hours of January 1st. The celebration will be enlivened by DJ Tony.
