The Andalusia Performing Arts Society, better known as TAPAS, held its International Christmas Concert on Thursday 4th in the auditorium of the La Cala Branch Office. Its musical director, James Burn, explained that the choir performed a repertoire of “carols and well-known modern Christmas songs” mostly in English, but they also included some Spanish.

“We are an international choir with members from England, Holland, the United States and Germany. We sing in English, but also in Spanish, which we really enjoy; it’s a challenge for some”, added the director.

He noted that this is a very busy time of year for them, with several concerts to perform. “We work very hard all year round to share music with the public and the Mijas Town Hall has given us the opportunity to do so”, Burn said, thanking the Foreigners Department for including them in their Christmas programme once again.

The councillor responsible for the area, Mario Bravo (PP), highlighted that the TAPAS choir “has a wonderful tradition of brightening up Christmas with their songs. They dare to sing one or two in Spanish and the rest in English, but these are songs that we all know and that brighten up our Christmas a little”. The foreign population residing in Mijas appreciates the concert. “Many foreigners ask us for this concert. They ask about it, and what’s more, they even sign up from one year to the next”, he said.
