Halloween night, celebrated from the 31st of October to the 1st of November, will feature numerous activities in Mijas organised by the Youth Department. All three population centres in the municipality will host entertainment inspired by the Mexican Day of the Dead, as well as games, haunted houses, parades and performances, all free of charge.
This was announced by the councillor for Youth, Melisa Ceballos (PP), who explained that the organisation of activities linked to this festivity increases every year, as does the number of Mijas residents, particularly children, taking to the streets to enjoy its iconography and customs, such as trick-or-treating.
Ceballos explained that in Mijas Pueblo, the celebrations organised by the Town Hall will begin at 16 hours in the Virgen de la Peña square (until 22 hours) while in La Cala (La Butibamba Park) they will start at 17 hours (until 22:30 hours) and in Las Lagunas (fairground) at 17:30 hours (until 23:00 hours).
Haunted house
All staff actively participating and visible to the public will be dressed in traditional Mexican costumes, such as mariachis and catrinas. At the Cortijo Don Elías, next to the Las Lagunas fairground, a haunted house called El Maizal will be set up, which will be open to those aged over 12.
However, there will be three other haunted houses, one in each urban centre, suitable for all audiences. Finally, the councillor for Youth encouraged all Mijeños to enjoy the Halloween celebrations throughout the municipality.
