The Town Hall also announced this week the security measures to be put in place during the festivities. The Local Police, Civil Guard, Fire Brigade and Civil Protection will increase their presence to ensure a “safe and peaceful” fair.
The different areas involved in the development and organisation of the La Cala festivities are currently busy preparing the various venues and services needed for the fair, which will take place between the 22nd and the 27th of July. This was confirmed by the councillor for the Fire Brigade and Civil Protection, Francisco Jerez (Vox), who emphasised that “we have around 100 Local Police officers working in shifts, approximately 50 Civil Protection personnel also on different shifts, and a permanent Fire Brigade crew during afternoons and evenings. The security unit of the USECIC of the Civil Guard will also be present”.

Special attention will be given to minors. The Mijas Fire Brigade will be responsible for inspecting all rides before they are operational, while Civil Protection will help prevent children from getting lost by distributing identification bracelets. “We expect it to be a very busy fair, which is why the security measures are so extensive, and that’s a good thing”, said the councillor. All security personnel will be on duty until 6 in the morning, supported by emergency medical teams.
