On Monday 25th of November, Soroptimist International Costa del Sol members joined the march called in Malaga by the Zero Violence Platform, in which nearly 5,000 women and men walked through the city centre to the Plaza de la Constitución, calling for an end to feminicide. Soroptimists also joined the initiative, carrying a banner with the slogans 'Soroptimist International, a global voice for women’ and ‘End violence against women and girls’.
At the end of the march, the procession read out the names of the women who have died so far this year in Spain at the hands of their partners or ex-partners, 42 in total. One by one, the name of the victim, the date of her death, the city, the name of the man who murdered her and their relationship were read out. There were also words of remembrance for the 10 minors who this year have also been murdered by their fathers as a result of this social scourge.
The women's associations stated in a manifesto that "laws that protect women are useless if they are not enforced". Soroptimist also lamented that "the problem of violence against women seems to be increasing, not decreasing. There are more women being raped in the street, the aggressors seem to be younger and sometimes act in groups"
