Last Friday 22nd, an exhibition of the Círculo de Pintores Solidarios, in which 50 artists collaborate, was inaugurated in the La Cala Cultural Centre. The netity organises more than 30 exhibitions a year and raises funds by donating a percentage of the sales to the Red Cross and the Philippe Cousteau Foundation, thus fulfilling one of the objectives of this national association based in Madrid.
The exhibition, which can be visited until the 16th of December, features painters from different parts of the country, mainly Andalusia. "At the moment we have four exhibitions underway, two of them on gender violence", said Julia Gutiérrez, the Andalusian delegate of the Circle of Solidarity Painters.
This initiative seeks to help those who need it most, families in a complicated economic context. Sonia Aranda, referent of Social Intervention of the Mijas Red Cross, added that "many families can't make ends meet, prices have gone up and that's why we collaborate as much as we can to support them".
These exhibitions promote values such as solidarity and social commitment. ‘"I think that the Círculo de Pintores Solidarios represents something beautiful; uniting art as a hobby with solidarity, recognising the talent and artistic expression that each painter has", said the mayoress of Mijas, Ana Mata (PP).
