Mijas stops the collection of basic goods for the victims of the DANA

  • El trabajo de los voluntarios de Protección Civil consiste ahora en clasificar todas las donaciones recibidas.

The assistance offered by Mijas firefighters in the municipalities affected by the floods continues. On Saturday the second team arrived

Through social media, the Mijas Town Hall announced  this weekend that the collection of material for the victims of the DANA had stopped at the old fire station due to the high volume of donations made by the neighbours. In this sense, the local executive thanked the solidarity shown by all those people who, Individually or through groups, have had no limits in collaborating with this tragedy. The Town Hall also pointed out that work will continue these days in the building to organise everything that has been collected and send it to the areas most affected by the rains at the end of October.

Help from the Mijas Fire Brigade

In the meantime, the Mijas firefighters in Valencia continue to collaborate in the relief work. Among other actions, on Thursday 7th, the Mijas firefighters carried out inspection tasks in several covered car parks in the municipality of Algemesí, also bailing out water in a subway that connects the centre of this city with the Raval neighbourhood.

On Saturday, another team of firefighters left Mijas for Valencia, to take over from the five colleagues who have been deployed in these municipalities for five days. They have protective equipment for working with water provided by Operational Services, including masks and special suits, waterproof boots and rubber gloves. Once again, and as in other municipalities, the operation is coordinated by the Provincial Consortium of Firefighters of Malaga.
