On Wednesday 30 October, the councillor for Culture, Juan Carlos Maldonado (PMP), presented the next Mijas Festival of Nature Film. From Thursday 7th to Sunday 10th of November, this event will bring together environment and media to showcase the natural and tourist attractions of our town. Open to all Mijeños, it is dedicated to the neighbour Juan Antonio Gómez Alarcón, who wnet missing and whose father died recently, with whom he had a strong connection.
Thus, the Manuel España Theatre will host the festival, a meeting specialised in environmental, adventure, travel, hiking and mountaineering images from a cultural and historical perspective that is designed "with the aim of encouraging film, and nature tourism activities. An offer to which we have given more content, understanding that the festival is likely to host and expand new initiatives", said Maldonado.

Among the activities, a film make-up workshop, a screening of short films and a hiking route through the Sierra de Mijas with a circular route of 11 kilometres. In the guest section, there will be renowned specialists such as Quico Taronji, presenter of the La 1 programme ‘Aquí la Tierra’; Arita Aronaigo, author of the children's book ‘Aarón y Naia en la naturaleza’; Nacho Dean, who has walked around the world and has united the five continents by swimming; and the mountaineer Lorenzo Ortas.
The councillor recalled that this festival is "totally free, and I want to invite all Mijeños to take advantage and enjoy all that this new meeting has to offer".
