The students of the Mitur and Mijas Gestiona courses visited this Tuesday the Hotel La Zambra to get to know the facilities, their work system and how they take care of customer service, a subject on which they are being trained. This is the fifth masterclass in which they have participated since they started in June, said the councillor for Employment Promotion of the Mijas Town Hall, Juan Carlos Maldonado (PMP), who also accompanied the group, "the truth is that this type of masterclasses are very interesting because they give them a practical perspective of what they are learning and it is good for them, especially for later landing in the job market, although many of the students have worked before", said the councillor.
The students got to know in depth the Hotel La Zambra, the only five-star hotel in Mijas, discovering from the inside how a luxury hotel establishment is managed and what marketing strategies are applied, among other aspects, "showing also what the employees are like, the organisational chart and the functions that each one has in the hotel", said the general manager of the establishment himself, Joost Kruissen, who welcomed the group and who valued this meeting “because it also allows us to encourage professionals to continue training in this exciting world of tourism, in this case luxury tourism”.
Also taking part in this explanation was the hotel's Human Resources Manager, María Beltrán, who gave them "the basic ideas about our employer brand, what we look for in our employees, although we also want to highlight the importance of local employment, because almost 50 percent of our staff are from here, from the area".
The students, both from the Mitur course dedicated to tourism and the Mijas Gestiona course, which focuses on customer service, described these types of activities as very beneficial, as well as the classes in general, in which, by the way, they are strongly insisting on practising English. "We are learning a lot, at the beginning the syllabus focused on the tourism sector, how it works and what it consists of, and now in the last classes we are learning about the work of a tourist guide. We are really enjoying it and we still have a lot to discover", concluded Ana Ordóñez, student of the Mitur course.
