On Friday and Saturday the First Agrycultural Fair also took place in Mijas, at the Cortijo Don Elias, in which two economic areas, agriculture and handicrafts, were promoted and united.
On Friday morning the fair began with a talk by José Antonio Goméz González, a member of the Micoma cooperative. The councillor for agriculture, Juan Carlos Maldonado explained that "the aim is to sow a seed to resume and consolidate a sector that in Mijas, has always been a main activity, agriculture". While, the representative of Micoma, José Antonio Gómez, said that "the fair is a way of bringing together and uniting the small businesses in Mijas so that together, they can face the current problems of agriculture, such as the drought or the incorporation of new technologies".
The fair celebrated its first edition with the collaboration of the subtropical cooperative Micoma and Agrojardín and hosted machinery demonstrations, musical performances, workshops, and even a chainsaw carving exhibition. The event also offered a craft market with seven artisans from the Mijas Craft Association. In addition, a charity bar managed by the Autism charity food association was set up, in which funds were raised in aid of ADIMI and the social work of the brotherhood of Fusionada de Fuengirola.
