Guests of the Wyndham Resort will be able to stay in the room and all proceeds will be donated to the AECC of Mijas.

The Idiliq Foundation is launching a ‘pink room’ at the Wyndham Resort in Mijas to raise funds for the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC). Everyone who stays in this flat will help in the fight against cancer, as the resort will donate all the proceeds obtained from the booking of this room. This is the foundation's new initiative to remember that October is a pink month, the month in which International Day Against Breast Cancer is celebrated. The room is decorated with pink motifs and will be available to everyone who wish to stay in it throughout the month of October.

According to Juan Miguel Marcos, president of the Idiliq Foundation, "we always celebrate October with a very pink month and always with the AECC in mind. We organise many fundraising events and, on this occasion, we came up with the idea of a pink room. We will have a raffle, a charity lunch, a very special race... It will be a solidary month.

This will not be the only initiative organised by the foundation, as it is planning a very active month of solidarity. Marcos also recalled that "we are organising an event with great enthusiasm, the 'smile mile’, which will take place on the 27th of October, we did it a few years ago and we want to take it up again".

The AECC recalled that this cancer still affects many people and assured that all the money raised this month will go to research, its main focus at the moment, which is why it is still asking associations and institutions to collaborate in this cause.

Appreciation

For her part, Lola Sanchís, president of the AECC in Mijas, wanted to "thank the Idiliq Foundation, which always, every year, is collaborating with our association in a very active way and that helps us and supports us a lot". The AECC recalled that last year 35,000 cases of breast cancer were diagnosed in Spain, although the survival rate is 85%. However, all the association's current efforts are focused on research, "which is why all the events organised this year are aimed at raising funds for research".

The Town Hall is already working on holding different events during the month of October to raise awareness of this day. The councillor for Social Inclusion, Melisa Ceballos (PP), wanted to accompany the AECC and the organisation in this presentation and highlighted "the great work that the foundation does, always supporting different groups and with new ideas and initiatives". The councillor also stressed that "unfortunately it is still a disease that takes many lives. That is why we must all work together to continue with the research".
