The Idiliq Foundation commemorates 25 years of existence

  • Around 250 people gathered yesterday at the Wyndham resort to celebrate the organisation's anniversary

Once again, the Idiliq Foundation held its traditional annual gala, but this year they did it with a double purpose, as the foundation has also celebrates this year its 25th anniversary, such a special anniversary had to be commemorated in style. 

Around 250 people gathered on Thursday 19th of September at the Safari restaurant in the Wyndham resort to highlight the solidarity work they have been doing since 1999, which represents a quarter of a century working to ensure that society receives the support it needs. 

"Seeing all the friends of the foundation who love us and who have come to share such a special night with us makes us extremely proud", said Idiliq's president Juan Miguel Marcos during the event, who also explained that "we have been doing social work for decades, but it was 25 years ago when we decided that the best way to organise this work was through a foundation".

Formerly called Fundación Sonrisa, the aim from day one has been to offer maximum support to groups and individuals in need on the Costa del Sol and Tenerife, which is why representatives of different associations and groups in the municipality such as Adimi, Afesol, Nueva Cultura del Desarrollo, and the Spanish Association Against Cancer, among others, attended the gala.

Likewise, the foundation was also supported by political representatives such as the mayoress of Mijas, Ana Mata (PP); the councillor for Employment, Enterprise and Self-Employment of the Junta de Andalucía, Rocío Blanco; the territorial delegate, Carmen Sánchez; members of the Mijas corporation, and from other municipalities.

The mayoress of the municipality wanted, in addition to congratulate the foundation, dedicate a few words and stressed that they are “a role model for all those companies that want to give their best”, she also recalled that they have “had the ability to create a family environment in which each of us feel part of this place in which very complicated situations are taken forward”.  

For her part, the councilor also addressed the audience to highlight “the great work carried out by the foundation in terms of making corporate social responsibility more visible”. The delegate, said that “we can only say two words about tonight: congratulations and thanks, as you have been working for and with society for 25 years".

The PP councillor Mario Bravo, said that “we are very happy with the work they do because they often reach places that we can not, for various reasons”. 

The councillor of Por Mi Pueblo, Juan Carlos Maldonado, said that “for us, being present was more than obligatory because this is a way to give them back everything they do for us and to strengthen the public-private collaboration”. 

Finally, the councillor of the PSOE of Mijas Josele González, stressed that “for me it has been a real honor and a privilege to be able to work with them, we are very lucky to have them, so we must take care of them and, of course, thank them".

In this way, the Mijas organization continues to reaffirm its social commitment, supporting groups and individuals most in need on the Costa del Sol.
