'Mijas with soul by candlelight' included in its programme for Saturday a performance by the Mijas Music Band. Neighbours and visitors gathered in the square to listen to their melodies.
The Mijas Music Band offered among its repertoire songs from popular film soundtracks, ballads and orchestral music.
As the director, Francisco Valcárcel, explained, "we rehearse throughout the year for the summer concerts". On Saturday was the first one, and they debuted two songs, one from Romeo and Juliet and 'The power of love'.
Among the members of the band we spoke to Lucía, who plays the clarinet in this group, which for her is very special, "my brother and my mum are also part of the band".
The summer just started and the Mijas Music Band will be present in more special events during the summer. On the 16th of July they will be playing in the procession of the Virgen del Carmen in La Cala and on the 20th they will perform in the Plaza Virgen de la Peña in Mijas Pueblo, in a tribute concert to Juan Antonio Gómez.
