Last Friday started the original Mijas Sun&Golf golf tour at the Chaparral golf course with a high participation of 97 players which set the bar very high for the rest of the competitions, 5 in total plus the final, each one will be played in a different golf course in the town.

The start of the tour was brilliant with 97 players on the Chaparral course last Friday afternoon.  A demanding and technical course for the players who will soon be playing at Miraflores, on the 28th of June; Cerrado del Águila, on the 5th of July; La Noria, on the 19th of July; Europa course, at La Cala Resort, on the 2nd of August and the grand final at Mijas Golf, on the 24th of August, with the presentation of the awards at a gala dinner at the Hotel La Zambra.  Registrations can be made on the platform: www.golfdirecto.com.

The winners were as follows: In first category, Gary Cameron.  In second, Marco Antonio de Justo; in special ladies, Conny Sonntag; and finally the scratch was for David Garrido from Mijas: "it is a very welcoming course, today I was lucky, I have been scratch winner in the course where I am a member and I train every afternoon".

The tour is a project by the Tourism Department of the Mijas Town Hall with the support of the Mijas Golf Courses Association.  "Today has been the first round, we will play 5 more, and being low golf season, we are going to try to make it high season in Mijas", said Francisco Jerez, Councillor for Turism. The tournament director and marketing director of the magazine Andalucía Golf said that, "we are very happy, we are full on a Friday afternoon and the forecast is very good".
