The Town Hall has resent Property Tax (IBI) receipts for those residents who have returned their first bill or for those who have requested a direct debit

The Councillor for Economy and Finance of Mijas Town Hall, Mario Bravo (PP), recalled that until the 20th of November the deadline for voluntary payment of taxes will remain open. In fact, on Wednesday 5th of June the Town Hall sent again the collection of the Property Tax (IBI) so that the people from Mijas can comply with their tax obligations.

In this regard, Bravo said that the voluntary period began on March 5th with the IBI. However, the collection has been sent again to citizens who have returned this bill or for those who have requested direct debit during these months of 2024. Remember that, in the case of having the tax paid by direct debit, there is a 5% discount.

On April 5th the collection for the rubbish tax was sent out and on May 6th the collection for the Mechanical Traction Vehicle Tax and other taxes such as those for the occupying the public highway with tables and chairs, kiosks, fords, loading and unloading, the municipal market and bank cashiers were also sent out. With regard to the resending of charges, on July 6th the rubbish collection will be sent out and on August 6th the one for circulation.

Payment methods

There are currently three different ways for residents to comply with their tax obligations. The first way to pay taxes is in person at the Citizen Attention areas at Mijas Town Hall or at the Branch offices in Las Lagunas and La Cala.

There is also the option of paying it at the electronic site of the municipal website, www.mijas.es, for which a digital certificate or electronic ID is required. And the third way is the pagosexpress.mijas.es platform, which has been enabled again on the Town Hall website to make payment even easier.

The collection of fees and taxes make up a large part of the Town Hall's income; in fact, through the IBI alone, around 42 million euros are expected to be collected and 6.5 million euros through the domestic and commercial rubbish tax.
