Telefonica will complete the installation of ultra broadband in Mijas by May 2025

  • Telefónica está inmersa en un proceso de cierre de todas sus centrales de cobre en nuestro país.

The closure date of the copper central offices in the town will be postponed

Telefonica is currently in the process of closing down all its copper central offices in Spain, which was scheduled to end on April 19th. Due to this situation, the Town Hall has been in conversations with the company so that the closure "will not be detrimental to the residents of Mijas", according to the government team. "There are many stations that have not been closed and given the concern of the residents, especially in Mijas Pueblo, where there are areas where they still do not have optic fibre, we have held a meeting with Telefónica in which we saw the possibility of delaying the closure of this station", explained the councillor for Digital Modernisation and Infrastructures, Juan José Torres Trella (PP).

As a result of these talks, the Town Hall has received confirmation from the company that the closure date of the copper central offices in the town will be postponed to May 27th, 2025 and October the 19th, 2024 in the case of the smaller central offices in the scattered areas. "Prior to this, we will have the deployment of fibre optics throughout the area", Torres Trella concluded.
