Mijas is hosting a new cycling event, the 'I Rally MTB Mijas-Chaparral', next Saturday 16th of March, from 10:00 hours, starting and finishing at the racecourse and with a spectacular route through the forest of El Chaparral, "one of the last remaining areas in Mijas that has not been burnt down and where you can enjoy nature and an indigenous Mediterranean forest" said Alberto Claros, president of the Mijas Cycling Club, at the press conference.  Claros added that "it will be an entertaining circuit which is 5 kilometres long and depending on each category has a certain number of laps, the start and finish is at the racecourse and there the public will be able to comfortably watch the race".

You can register on the federation's website: andaluciaciclismo.com and the cost is 5 euros for those who are federated and 15 euros for those who are not.  There will be prizes for the first three classified in each category, male and female, and the first place for the cyclists from Mijas. Cyclists will race from the cadet category to the over 60s. The councillor for sports, Mari Francis Alarcón (PP) encouraged "the people of Mijas to sign up for the first Rally of this modality. The Sports Council encourages everyone to participate and to come to Mijas to have a good day, this circuit scores for the provincial track.
