The Mijas Local Police have issued a proposed fine to three shellfish collectors for catching sea urchins in the Torrenueva area. Several plainclothes officers observed this illegal practice during their surveillance service on the beach. The sea urchin is a protected species and its fishing is not permitted in Andalusia. 

The agents proceeded to identify the individuals and informed them that this practice is a crime against flora and fauna, for which reason they proposed a fine. They also seized the tools used for fishing them and all the sea urchins were returned to their natural habitat. 

The Mijas Local Police recalled the importance of the protection of nature and its commitment to comply with the rules to preserve it, appealing to citizens to be aware of the importance of protecting the environment.
