Mijas authorises the supply of 30 pre-locators for the control of water leaks

  • The cost of both actions amounts to more than 38,000 euros and will be charged to the Hydraulic Infrastructures Improvement Canon
  • Both projects were authorised at the Local Government Meeting held on Monday 26th
  • Ambas actuaciones han sido autorizadas en la Junta de Gobierno Local celebrada este lunes 26.

The Local Government Board has also given the go-ahead for the renovation of a sewerage pipe in La Cala

The Local Government Board of the Mijas Town Hall, which met this Monday, has authorised two actions in hydraulic matters which will achieve a more efficient management of resources. The first of these actions refers to the authorisation for the supply of 30 pre-locator devices for the validation and remote confirmation of leaks in the water distribution network. This system provides real-time information on the situation of the supply networks, which allows the location of leaks and the subsequent repair of breakdowns, thus optimising the consumption of drinking water.

This project will involve an investment of 20,000 euros and will allow efficiency in the control of leaks in a distribution network which, in many cases, is outdated, which favours the appearance of breakdowns and, therefore, leaks.

On the other hand, the Local Government Board has also given the go-ahead for the renovation of a sewerage pipe in Calle Cártama, in La Cala, as the current one is in a bad state of repair, with cracks and blockages, which causes spillages into the ground and a reduction in the flow. With this action, 37.85 metres of sewerage collector and two manholes will be renovated. The government team assures that "the work will be carried out on weekends or in the evenings in order to affect road traffic in the street as little as possible". This will require an investment of 18,049.35 euros.

As the mayoress, Ana Mata (PP), pointed out, "the commitment of this Town Hall to efficient water management is clear and firm, hence the need to be effective when it comes to facilitating the actions of competent entities such as Acosol. The drought situation we are going through requires resolute, committed and responsible management". Both projects will be charged to the 'Canon de Mejora de Infraestructuras Hidráulicas' (Water Infrastructure Improvement Canon).
