The M-222 bus stop in Los Pedregales will be 'on demand' as of February 1st

  • The Department for Transport and Mobility is working on the municipalisation and drafting of an ordinance to regulate public transport services
  • Marco Cortés es edil de Transporte y Movilidad del Ayuntamiento de Mijas.

Users of this line that passes through La Alqueria will have to book through the Malaga Transport Consortium

From February 1st, users of the Los Pedregales stop who want to take the bus must request it in advance. This is included in the M-222 line which links Mijas Pueblo with Las Lagunas and Fuengirola, passing through El Barrio and La Alquería, "it is a line with a difficult section, complicated by the layout of the terrain. We are going to optimise the stop at Camino de Los Pedregales, due to the lack of users, and will make it available on demand. When passengers want to use it, they will have to call the number on the information signs and then the bus will pass by to pick them up", explained Marco Cortés (PP), councillor for Transport and Mobility of the Mijas Town Hall, during a visit to the area this morning.

Reservations can be made until 18:00 hours the day before the requested date by three ways: by phone 951 920 267, through the consortium's website www.ctmam.es or through the Transporte Andalucía app.  The applicant will indicate the day and time of the route that best suits his or her needs. Once the booking has been made, an email will be sent to the address provided (optional in the case of telephone) with confirmation of the booking (check your spam or unsolicited advertising messages folder if the message does not appear in your inbox).  If passengers want to get off at this point on the M-222 line, it will not be necessary to request it in advance, as it will be enough to inform the driver directly once they get on the bus.

Cortés, who is also a representative of the Mijas Town Hall in the Transport Consortium, assured that this "will save time on the route, costs for the Town Hall, as the service is paid by mileage, as well as the consequent reduction of C02 emissions". The aim is also to "optimise all the lines", said the councillor, who added "we are studying all the lines so that those that need more frequency can use the savings to be increased and here at this point (Los Pedregales) continue to offer the service on demand so that it is more efficient".

The Mijas Transport and Mobility Department is working on the municipalisation of the Collective Transport Service, as the councillor announced on Tuesday, a process which is currently in the process of naming the members who make up the study commission for the dossier. Along the same lines, the processing of the draft Municipal Ordinance Regulating the Public Urban Transport Service has already been published in the Official Gazette of the Province (BOPMA), with the aim of improving the participation of citizens in the process of developing the regulation, "from here we invite everyone who wants to participate to do so, there will be collective and public meetings so that everyone can contribute", said Cortes, who concluded by assuring that " we are making all these improvements to public transport to make life more comfortable for all the citizens of Mijas".
