Adintre organises several charity events to make Christmas special

  • The aim of these events is to raise funds and to offer "a dignified Christmas dinner to families in need"

People interested in collaborating with the association can do so by volunteering at its headquarters located on Feria de Jerez street in Fuengirola

According to the UN, more than 1.1 billion people around the world live in a situation of residential exclusion and more than 100 million lack any kind of housing, a fact that sometimes makes them invisible to the rest of the citizenship. To fight against this, our municipality has the support of the ADINTRE Association. A collective that helps more than 700 people between adults and children in the Costa del Sol area. "Recently I thought about taking action because the number of people we help is increasing and the money is decreasing. We have a lot of work and few volunteers, because at the end of the day we have to look after these people seven days a week and we can't leave them without food", explained the president of this association, Joyce Gyimah, which is why, as a sign of its commitment to society, Adintre has organised different charity events to make Christmas a special time for the people and families it cares for.

There will be three events scheduled for the next few days, the proceeds of which will also go to other groups such as Fuengirola Rugby Club and CB Suel Mijas. According to Adintre's social worker, Laura Moya, "for this campaign our aim is not only to raise funds, but to try to make it a special Christmas and offer a dinner worthy of the season to the families most in need and the homeless who come to us".

The first event will be a charity golf tournament at Club Calanova on Saturday 2nd of December. The second, a charity Christmas dinner, will take place on Sunday 3rd of December at the Asador Otola, and although all reservations are booked out, you can collaborate through the "fila 0". Finally, on Thursday 7th there will be a party with live music at the La Sala establishment in Puerto Banús. "The situation is very critical at the moment, that's why we also organise these events", said Moya.

Volunteers
People interested in collaborating with the association can do so by volunteering at its headquarters located on Feria de Jerez street in Fuengirola, or "simply by sharing our content on social networks so that people can see us", Joyce clarified. Her colleague also highlighted that "something very important for us is that the people who come to collaborate become aware of the situation and leave aside the stereotypes they have of homeless people, something that can only happen if they experience it first hand". Finally, to conclude, the president stated that "they always need someone to turn to, to listen to them, and at Adintre we make them feel as if they were at home".
