The date for the XII Great Food Drive, which Bancosol organises every year at a national level, is approaching. The dates are already known, it will be from the 24th to the 26th of November. In Mijas, the association "Nueva Cultura del Desarrollo" is going to offer its collaboration in nine big supermarkets in Las Lagunas with its volunteers. The collective is asking for more collaboration from neighbours to cover the information points and also for maximum participation in the campaign. All the money raised is key to supplying food to all the associations and causes to which they are dedicated. Bancosol also supplies the food banks in the different towns and villages. This year's slogan is 'Feed a better life' and it will be carried out through financial donations at the cash desk, transfers to Bancosol's accounts and via Bizum. 

Volunteers play an important role in the campaign, as they provide information about the campaign at the cash desk and encourage consumers to participate and show their solidarity. For the campaign, 4,000 volunteers are needed throughout Spain. The secretary of Nueva Cultura del Desarrollo, Rosa Planelles, asks "the people of Mijas not only to collaborate financially in the 'Gran Recogida', which this year is easier with bizum or an account number, but also to get involved a little more by investing a couple of hours, becoming a volunteer of our association, in order to help those people who need it most".

For her part, Lorena Morales, a volunteer, encouraged the people of Mijas to participate with "a little of their time. There are many families in Mijas who really need this help. Those who can't help financially can contribute two hours, two hours is nothing, so that we can collect as much as possible for the families of Mijas who need it". For this reason, its members received a training course on Monday to be able to develop the campaign in an optimal way.

Berta Mateos, coordinator of the association, recalled that "that's why we are in the association, in the fight, to help the people of Mijas who are at risk of social exclusion to be less so every day, and we can give them weapons so that they can get ahead on their own".

In Las Lagunas, volunteers can be found at the Mercadona supermarkets on Avenida de Mijas and Camino Viejo de Coín; Hipercor, Carrefour (Avenida Los Lirios), Día Maxi (Calle Dr. García Gámez), Día La Plaza, Lidl (Avenida Sáenz de Tejada), Jamón (Calle Río Aguas) and Aldi (Poligono San Rafael).
