To start the weekend we propose an exhibition. Today, Friday the painting exhibition 'Maktub', by Yurdana Ríos, will be inaugurated at 20:00 hours in the Cultural Centre of La Cala. This is the first time that this local artist has exhibited her drawings to the public. It will be open until the 23rd of October.

This Saturday, 30th of September, the solidarity tables promoted by the Department of Foreigners of Mijas are back. During the autumn they will be set up on the last Wednesdays and Saturdays of the month on the Branch Office square in La Cala from 11 to 14 hours. At these tables, social and solidarity groups inform about the work they do and also sell different articles with the aim of raising funds for their respective causes. 

Also on Saturday, from 11 to 16 hours, Club La Naranja in Calahonda will be hosting a day in aid of the Ace Shin animal protection organisation. 

On the other hand, the Mijas Lions Club is holding a charity dinner this Saturday from 19 hours at The Green Label Chaparral Golf Club Restaurant. The evening includes a welcome drink, dinner and musical entertainment, which will be provided by classical guitarist Mark Shurey and singer Rose Phiplapens. The price of the dinner is 45 euros, of which 10 euros will go to the La Cala Lions Club. Bookings can be made on 663 52 92 80 and 722 55 19 87.

Likewise, the Marbella Friends of the Theatre Association is staging a selection of 'Entremeses' by Miguel de Cervantes, including 'El viejo celoso', 'Los habladores' and 'Retablo de las maravillas' this Saturday at the Teatro Las Lagunas.  It will start at 20:00 hours, and tickets are for charity, as donations of 5 euros will go entirely to the Asociación Española Contra el Cáncer (Spanish Association Against Cancer). Tickets will be on sale two hours before the start of the play at the Las Lagunas Theatre. 

Canine competition 

This Sunday, 1st of October, the Los Olivos Shopping Centre in Calahonda will host the third edition of the National Canine Morphological Competition of Mijas Costa, organised by the 'Real Sociedad Canina Costa del Sol'. The event will start at 10 o'clock in the morning and is valid for the Andalusian Championship.
