For yet another year, the Mijas Town Hall thanks the thousands of tourists who visit our municipality to spend their holidays

A celebration for choosing Mijas as a holiday destination. In this way, for yet another year, the Mijas Town Hall thanks the thousands of tourists who visit our municipality to spend their holidays. “We want it to be a day of thanks to all those visitors we have welcomed, not only in summer, obviously, but throughout the year”, said the councillor for Tourism, José Carlos Martín (Cs), “so from here I encourage everyone to come to Mijas Village next Wednesday the 27th of September, from noon, as we will offer different activities and take the opportunity to see Mijas Pueblo and enjoy a day of coexistence and entertainment”.

This year, the appreciation is paramount, as hotel occupancy in Mijas this summer has exceeded the average, standing at 91.7%. “We have had an excellent summer, we have reached occupancy and visitor levels similar to those of 2019 and we have even exceeded some figures, and this is something to be grateful for because even with all the work that is done to this end, the promotion of our municipality, etc., in the end, they are the ones who decide to come and visit us”, said Martin. As every year and coinciding with World Tourism Day, Mijas will celebrate this traditional, multicultural and pioneering day in which a little bit of what we are and what characterises us will be offered. “We are going to present some of our typical dishes, what the tourists who come to see us like the most, our traditional paella, our flamenco and, above all, our sun, which will surely accompany us throughout the day and are some of the most attractive ingredients that our municipality has”, concluded the councillor.

Ruta de la Tapa (Tapa Route)

The Virgen de la Peña square will once again host this day, on which the prize will also be awarded to the winner of the ‘Ruta de la Tapa 2023’. There is no better setting than this, the epicentre of the white Andalusian village, with mountain and sea views and from where you can savour our gastronomy, immerse yourself in our history and culture, all of which are the qualities that most tourists seek in Mijas.
