The Guardia Civil, as part of Operation Dope, has dismantled a criminal organisation dedicated to the indoor cultivation of marijuana in homes in Mijas, Fuengirola, Alhaurín el Grande, Coín and Carratraca.

Seven people have been arrested and a further three investigated for offences against public health, membership of a criminal organisation, electricity fraud and falsification of public documents.

Beginning of the operation
The investigation began at the beginning of the year, when the Guardia Civil became aware that some individuals of foreign nationality had acquired a house in the municipality of Carratraca that they could be using for planting marijuana. Following the numerous investigations carried out, the agents discovered that they were dealing with a criminal network made up of citizens from various European countries and that they had set up several indoor cultivation laboratories in houses in other towns in Malaga: Alhaurín el Grande, Coín, Mijas and Fuengirola.

In order to carry out the plantation, they had installed numerous devices for the cultivation of the drug, air conditioners, lights, etc... And they had illegally connected the houses to the electricity grid.

This organisation, according to the Guardia Civil, was perfectly structured, with some of its members dedicated to the cultivation and care of their plantations and others, after harvesting and drying them, to the sale of the cultivated marijuana.

Material seized
In the four searches carried out, 21,590 euros in cash, 305 marijuana plants, 16.1 kg of marijuana buds, 74 grams of hashish and seven vehicles were seized.

This operation was carried out by officers from the Pizarra and Álora posts and with the support of personnel from the Coín Civil Guard Company.
