  • The Lions Club will celebrate the coronation of King Charles III on May 7th

The event, in which the Department for Foreigners collaborates, will be at La Butibamba park in La Cala

We know them for their charity work, but also, like almost all British people, they are very royalist. The Lions Club wants to celebrate the coronation of King Charles III and will do so with a party. “It will be a day at La Butibamba Park, in La Cala de Mijas, with lots of people, we hope; there will be a party for the children, dancing, music, stalls, food, competitions... Lots of different things for a big day of celebration”, explained Ann Bowles, a member of the club, on Wednesday 12th last from the Branch Offices in La Cala de Mijas.

The event will also include a bake-off and the children’s election of prince and princess. The Department for Foreigners is collaborating in the event. The councillor responsible for the Department, Arancha López (Cs), pointed out that “we are going to collaborate with all the organisation, material and publicity for the event. We will be there on such a special day for all of them, after 70 years of Elizabeth II’s reign; in Mijas, we have one of the most significant British colonies in Spain, there are more than 9,000 citizens living in the municipality who have chosen us as their neighbours”.

The celebration will take place from noon to eight in the evening, next Sunday 7th of May, one day after the coronation of King Charles III, scheduled for Saturday 6th at Westminster Abbey, where his mother, Queen Elizabeth II was also coronated in June 1953.
