Acosol closes an agreement” with the homeowners’ association that will allow the installation of a water supply network in this residential area

After many years of struggle, the residents of La Majadilla del Muerto will have access to drinking water. On Friday, the owners’ association signed an agreement with Acosol, the public company responsible for water management in the municipality of Mijas, whereby the latter will be responsible for the installation of a water supply network in the area. “This is an important agreement between Majadilla del Muerto and Acosol, and in which the Mijas Town Hall has been an essential link to facilitate that more than 230 owners can finally have drinking water after several decades of struggle.

For a long time, these residents have had to cover their daily needs with water tanks, which they themselves have filled with vats”, said the mayor of Mijas, Josele González (PSOE), present at the signing of this agreement with the councillor for Infrastructure, José Carlos Martín (Cs), and the Managing Director of Acosol, Carlos Cañavate, as well as the president of the Majadilla del Muerto Neighbours’ Association, Antonio Pérez. “I would like to thank the neighbours for their patience as it has been a very complicated administrative process, but if you work hard, you achieve your objectives, such as the signing of this agreement”, added Martín.

The next step will be to invite tenders for the works, which could begin this summer. “They will last approximately six or seven months depending on the progress of the works, which have a very significant investment of close to 1.4 million euros. We hope that by the beginning of next year at the latest it will become a reality”, said Cañavate, who said that this water network “will be connected to the general Acosol network, so the water will come directly from the Río Verde container, guaranteeing the supply at all times”. The President of the Neighbours’ Association emphasised that “the residents have had no water supply. We have been asking for it for many years and now we will finally be able to have access to the drinking water supply”, he said. “This has been a long-standing demand for this area of La Cala”, added Jesús Garín, administrator of the community of owners in La Majadilla del Muerto.
