Sun, sea and sand. These are some ingredients of the Senior Citizens Trip organised by Mijas Town Hall. The Mijas Seniors’ Citizens Department will take the retired Mijas citizens to Roquetas de Mar (Almería) in September and, as announced last Thursday, 11th August, by the Mayor of Mijas, Josele González (PSOE) and the Councillor for this area, Tamara Vera (PSOE). A new formula has been worked out for registration to avoid overcrowding. “On the 16th and 17th of August, senior citizens will be able to register for the trip, simultaneously, in each of the retirement homes in the three centres of the municipality,” explained Vera. Registration dates will be from 18th to 23rd August in the retirement homes of Mijas Pueblo and La Cala and from 24th to 31st August in Las Lagunas.

Get your luggage ready! After two years without being able to travel because of the pandemic, our seniors will head to the west of Almeria to enjoy four days of holidays in style in a few weeks. “This trip will cover around 1,500 seniors from our municipality who will enjoy a trip to a 4- star hotel. They will know a charming city, its coasts or its great historical and artistic heritage as the famous Castle of Santa Ana, and also stay in a hotel on the beachfront,” explained the Mijas Councillor.
For her part, the Councillor expressed, “This way, we will have the opportunity to enjoy the end of this summer 2022, as our elders deserve”.

To go to ‘Roquetas de Mar, it is only necessary to bring the completed application form, a photocopy of the ID card, and the municipal pensioner’s card. The Mayor also wanted to remind us that “it is a trip intended for retirees registered in Mijas, with at least three years of seniority, with a cost of 6 and a half euros”. The trip will take place from 26th September to 5th October. It will divide into three shifts with four days and three nights. The Mijas Pueblo and La Cala residents’ first shift to travel is from 26th to 29th September. Second and third, from 29th September to 2nd October, and finally from 2nd to 5th October, the elderly of Las Lagunas will travel.
