On the 5th of August, Flamenco will return to La Cala. Organised by the Culture Department and the 'Peña Flamenca del Sur', 'Noche Flamenca El Torreón' will be held with good flamenco singing, guitar playing, and dancing.
According to the Councillor for Culture, Verónica Ensberg (PSOE), "from the area, we have a project, an initiative that we want to promote and enhance the Flamenco world. Within this project, not only is this 'Flamenco Night' here, in El Torreón, but we are going to count on the assessment and collaboration of the four flamenco clubs in the municipality. So we will carry out these flamenco performances throughout the year in each town".
This Flamenco evening will feature: Miguel de Tena and Araceli Campillos on vocals, maestro Carlos Haro on guitar, and the Azabache dance group. All this to be presented by the master of ceremonies Salvador de la Peña.
According to the Peña Flamenca del Sur's President, María Luisa Laso, " Flamenco has to be given a place in this scene since it is our culture, and thanks to the Town Hall, which is helping as much as possible, we continue to support it". The groups' Vice-president, Pepe Martín, affirmed last Friday 22nd in the Auditorium, that "for many years now, more than 30, the Flamenco Festival has always been held. We are doing it a little late this year, but we have an agreement to hold it here, outside, and we are happy". A magnificent summer evening full of good local art took place.
