Every Friday, these seniors have participated in the Coffee Morning organised by Age Concern at the Peña Flamenca del Sur in La Cala de Mijas. This is an association of elderly volunteers who help other elderly foreign residents. "They organise this activity, where they can come, interact with each other, debate, exchange ideas, talk, tell each other things and this social interaction is fundamental for all the people that this association attends to through its volunteers", declared the Councillor for Foreigners, Arancha López (Cs).

Likewise, López highlighted the altruistic work of this group: "They provide translation support, accompany them to the hospital or health centre, to carry out procedures in any administration, to do the shopping, transfers, accompaniment, a fundamental support in their day-to-day life and which makes things easier for them, as most of them live alone".

Besides organising these breakfasts in La Cala, they also organise them on Wednesdays in Mijas Pueblo, at the same time, from 11 am to 1 pm. Age Concern points out that everyone is welcome. "The only requirement we ask is that they speak English, it is open to both residents and foreigners who come on holiday, come along, enjoy and ask us questions," said Steve Marshall, secretary of Age Concern, an association that supports more than 130 foreign residents in the municipality.
