Different kinds of mornings for the first year pupils at CEIP Virgen de la Peña de Las Lagunas as pupils had a great time, but how can they be taught to recycle successfully? With games. The 'Planeta Explora Ciencia Divertida' company has deployed its entire catalogue of skills so that the children know how to differentiate which materials go into which container and why. Understanding the reasons for this is paramount, and passing on this message to adults at home.
Alejandra Ramos, tutor and Aldea Programme assistant, summarised the task "we have a fun class. This is a workshop designed to raise awareness for the youngest children on recycling. We have had the collaboration of an external company, 'Planeta Ciencia' as they have come to teach them in a fun, playful way, how to recycle correctly at home", who added that, "if we start from an early age to instil respect and care for the environment, when they grow up they will understand how important it is for the wellbeing of those around us, and also for our own wellbeing".
Francisco Lucas, 'Planeta Explora' coordinator, stressed "how important it is to make children aware of the need to recycle properly. As we throw a pizza carton into the bin, we are doing it wrong because the carton contains oil from the pizza, so we should put it in the organic bin".
Mijas is redoubling its commitment to recycling and awareness campaigns within the 'Mijas Más Limpia' (Mijas Cleaner) programme of the Cleaning Department. The Councillor for Street Cleaning, Laura Moreno (PSOE), stressed that "we will continue to make every effort to ensure that young people know and are aware of the need to recycle. Recycling properly means knowing which bin to put the different materials and waste in and, above all, that they pass on this message as good ambassadors of a green planet to their families".
