The Environment Department publishes 2,000 Sierra de Mijas topographical maps

  • It is aimed at professional or specialised mountain hikers
  • The Department of Environment of the Mijas Town Hall has presented this Monday.

The map also includes a QR code with more information, available in four languages

The Department of Environment of the Mijas Town Hall has presented, this Monday, one of its latest publications addressed to nature lovers. It is a topographical map of the Sierra de Mijas mountain range, the first for professional or specialised mountain lovers.

This map is the first set of 2,000 copies. It indicates the main terrain geographical features, "such as caves, ravines, paths, hilly areas, and unique trees that can also be found in the mountains. Besides, we can also find those interesting points we have in our Sierra de Mijas", explained the Environment Councillor, Arancha López (Cs), on Monday.

  • You can purchase this map through the Environment Department or the Mijas Tourism Offices.

It has been produced by a local team of experts and also includes a QR code in which all this information is available in four languages: Spanish, English, French, and German. López also highlighted the material used to make the map, stone paper. It is "ecological, waterproof, and resistant, so that hikers can use it for a long time, making it easier to handle".

The aim of this initiative is to continue spreading the word about the natural and scenic wealth, in this case, of the Sierra de Mijas. The map can be purchased through the Environment Department, although it will also be available at the Tourist Offices in the municipality.

The Tourism Councillor, José Carlos Martín (Cs), attended the map presentation. He said that "from the tourism promotion point of view, Mijas is a destination that we already have well established. It is always positive to seek added value, and precisely this type of initiative does exactly that. People who visit us find tools and information to enjoy our municipality and, in this case, our nature".
