Mijas resumes the employment guidance programme Andalucía Orienta which is aimed at the unemployed. It is a counselling tool for the active employment search that has an investment of 195,409 euros. It will start on April 25th, and will last until May 15th 2023. "This is a programme that has been running in Mijas for many years. It is aimed at the unemployed in our municipality and, in the previous edition attended 9,000 users," said the Councillor for Employment Promotion of Mijas Town Hall, Laura Moreno (PSOE).
Those interested in accessing the Andalucía Orienta service will have to make an appointment through the Andalusian Employment Service (SAE) office in Fuengirola and have an active job application. " Or, they will be attended directly at the Andalucía Orienta office in the Training and Employment building in Las Lagunas, if they don´t have a busy agenda", explained Moreno, who added that there will be four technical counsellors and an administrative assistant.
The Andalucía Orienta service is free of charge, and also includes a specialised counselling service for disabled people. The programme offers the user four guidance hours: "unemployed are given the necessary tools to know how to face a job interview, their CV is prepared, they are registered on different employment websites, they are also given accurate and effective information so that they know how to look for work on the internet, and to find out what the real job offers are", added Moreno. The Councillor also explained that users receive information on unemployed courses "so that they can recycle themselves and be more competitive in the job market".
Digital Gap
"I think it is essential that we provide all the tools so that the unemployed can carry out an active employment search, real, effective and they can finally find a job, which is the goal," said Moreno. "There are many who do not have access to services through the internet. There is a significant digital gap and what this programme does is make up for that deficiency that many may have due to their economic circumstances. It is essential that this programme is maintained as not everyone knows how to create a competitive CV in the labour market. It may be the case of young people looking for their first job, and even people over 45 years old who are in social exclusion, especially women over 45, who have a harder time finding a job, either because they have finished a job or because they are trying to retrain.
"Currently, in Mijas, there are 7,500 unemployed, and I believe that with active employment policies, whether municipal or from other public administrations, we have to work to lower this figure, and continue to promote job placement for the unemployed," concluded the Councillor.
